This May’s St Michael’s celebration festival in honour of Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday took place on the 28-29th of the month and was a great success, with lots of fun had by all. Dozens of stalls and entertainments were laid on by many volunteers (to whom go our sincere thanks!) and everyone in attendance had a wonderful time.
We took the opportunity to increase our membership a little and had the festival opened by the mayor and our own chairman, Rob Klincke, both of which you can see in action below!
On the Saturday evening, the Harmonaire’s put on a fantastic ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ concert, which brought the house down, particularly the Last-Night-of-the-Proms-style finale, which featured the choir and audience roaring out a stirring rendition of Land of Hope and Glory, all accompanied by enthusiastic waving of Union flags.
We look forward to featuring the Harmonaires in another concert in future, and we raised a lot of money for the Friends’, all of which will go towards preserving our wonderful church building for the future.
Thanks again to all who attended the many events over the weekend. You helped make it the great success that it was.
